Mrs. Laura Hollis

Welcome! My name is Laura Hollis, and I am so excited for the 2023-2024 school year! This is my seventh year at Peacock Middle School, but my 15th year teaching middle school students. I am the sixth-grade science and ELA teacher! I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where I attended Elmhurst College and received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Middle School. I finished my second master's from National Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction. I love reading, especially when my students share book recommendations with me. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends or playing with my dog, Avery, and cat, Penny. I also have three children, Nolan (11) and Lucca (6), and baby Griffin (6 months). My classroom is a place for students to interact with the curriculum and learn through the inquiry process. It is a welcoming center that allows for interaction and multiple opportunities to express problem-solving skills, creativity, and logic.
